XX Anniversary All-Russian National Congress of Radiology and Therapy "Radiology 2026" held in Moscow

From May 26 to 28, the XX Anniversary All-Russian National Congress of Radiology and Therapy "Radiology-2026" was held in Moscow as part of the XVIII All-Russian Scientific and Practical Forum with International Participation "Medical Diagnostics - 2026." The congress once again confirmed its status as a professional platform shaping the development of radiology, medical technologies, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Over the course of three days, more than 3,000 specialists from various cities of the Russian Federation and 29 countries participated in the congress: Abkhazia, Azerbaijan, Algeria, Armenia, Belarus, Egypt, Israel, India, Iraq, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Colombia, Mauritania, Malaysia, Morocco, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, Russia, Serbia, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Japan.

The international agenda for the plenary session was set by invited experts: Professor Hongjun Li (China), who presented the experience of radiology development in the diagnosis of infectious diseases and the integration of Chinese practice into a global context, and Professor Ernesto Alejandro Roldan Valadez (Mexico), who outlined the transformation of the radiologist's role in the era of artificial intelligence.

One of the key international focuses of the congress was the Russian-Chinese Forum, which brought together leading and recognized specialists from both countries. Within the framework of two sessions, practical cases and research were presented on the implementation of artificial intelligence in the diagnosis of infectious and cardiovascular diseases, the development of neuroimaging, innovations in MRI, as well as the clinical application of advanced imaging methods. The forum confirmed a steady vector towards strengthening Russian-Chinese scientific and technological partnership.

Over 400 reports were heard within the scientific program, dedicated to multidisciplinary approaches in modern diagnostic imaging – from fundamental research to clinical practice and the implementation of innovations.

As always, the scientific program covered all key areas: abdominal radiology and hepatobiliary diagnostics, cardioradiology, neuroimaging, radionuclide diagnostics and therapy, interventional oncoradiology, and diagnostics in urology, gynecology, traumatology, and pediatrics. Separate sections were dedicated to emergency conditions, forensic medicine, military medicine, and radiation safety issues. Significant attention was paid to a practice-oriented format: clinical case discussions, decision-making algorithms, and research standardization. The scientific and practical workshops were aimed at developing applied skills, from POCUS protocols to advanced CT and MRI techniques. The overarching theme of the entire program was the development of artificial intelligence and digital solutions, from automated segmentation and image analysis to clinical decision support systems and telemedicine. The focus was on technologies as a key tool for improving diagnostic accuracy and personalizing treatment.

For the first time within the program, a new direction was widely presented – the integration of diagnostic imaging into aesthetic medicine. The sections "Dermatology and Cosmetology – The Era of High-Frequency Ultrasound" and the conference "Diagnostic Imaging in Cosmetology and Plastic Surgery" demonstrated the formation of a new interdisciplinary field where ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging are applied to enhance procedure safety, diagnose complications, for preoperative planning, and for legal verification of results.

Among the key speakers of the congress were RAS Academicians S.K. Ternovaya, N.S. Serova, L.S. Kokov, I.V. Reshetov, RAS Corresponding Members T.N. Trofimova, S.V. Saakyan, S.N. Perekhodov and leading industry experts.

The event concluded with a plenary session summarizing the three-day work, featuring a speech by the elected President of "Radiology-2027," the Chief Freelance Specialist of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Vice-President of the Association of Medical Physicists of Russia, and Deputy Chief Physician of the Dmitry Rogachev National Medical Research Center of Pediatric Hematology and Immunology of the Ministry of Health of Russia, S.A. Ryzhov, and an award ceremony for specialists in the field of radiation diagnostics.

The XX Anniversary All-Russian National Congress of Radiation Diagnosticians and Therapists "Radiology-2026" outlined the key vectors for the industry's development: digitalization, integration of artificial intelligence, growth of interdisciplinary areas, and strengthening of international cooperation. Radiology continues to transform into one of the central platforms of modern medicine, uniting diagnostics, clinical decisions, and technological innovations.
