WELCOME TO THE WAPM 2013 CONGRESS IN MOSCOW
Looking to the future: fighting inequalities, aiming to better practice worldwide

"Perinatal medicine has become a multifactorial task force, comprised of many specialties concerned with the proper growth and care of the foetus from its conception till birth, and of the newborn during the postnatal period.

Specialists involved in Perinatal care include: obstetricians, biologists, neonatologists, midwives, nurses, genetic counselors, nutritionists and many others responsible for the outcome of scenarios which may ultimately bear a lasting impact not only on the health of the mother and foetus during pregnancy, delivery or the neonatal period, but which may also define the future of an individual, having long lasting effects throughout life. This is why it’s so important to update our knowledge in such fields, to share our advances and define where we face challenges in order to improve our results in the hope that, together, we can find proper solutions.

This is the main goal of the WAPM World Congress in Moscow. I hope that our meeting will be an exceptional venue to discuss new advances and guidelines, exchange opinions and meet experts in their fields – all of which will help us stay up to date.

The Organizing Committee has been hard at work to welcome us and to make this Congress unforgettable - not only from a scientific point of view, but also to network with others, renew ties of friendship and explore ideas to aid underdeveloped countries.

Allow me to acknowledge the full support that we are receiving from our Russian Colleagues, the local Organizing Committee and the city of Moscow: without their trust and encouragement, this success would not be possible.

Thank you very much indeed."
