Radiology – 2016. X Jubilee Russian National Congress of Radiology

Congress President Message

Dear colleagues!

In recent years, our specialty is undergoing rapid development. There appear new highly informative technologies for ultrasound diagnostics, low dose digital X-ray machines, new generations of computer and magnetic resonance tomographic scanners, new tools for intravascular manipulation, and workstations. Modern equipment makes it possible to identify the majority of diseases at early, often preclinical stages, and to perform therapeutic manipulation without extensive surgery in many cases.

However, mortality from the most common socially important diseases (cardiovascular and cancer diseases, consequences of injuries) does not tend to decrease. This is largely due to inefficient use of modern equipment, to the lack of the awareness of physicians about the possibilities of modern techniques, and to duplicating or incomplete use of contrast agent techniques, etc. A negative role is played by the artificial division of specialty, confusion in terms, the lack of a modern regulatory system, the outdated system of postgraduate training and additional professional education.

All-Russian Congress on Radiodiagnostics that enable the specialists of different areas to exchange views on the most important issues of diagnostics and treatment, efficient use of equipment park, and of the specificity and terms of training have become an important unifying factor.

The “Radiology 2016” jubilee Xth All-Russian National Congress of radiology diagnosticians and therapists meets these objectives.  The scientific program of the Congress focuses on the development of programs of early (preclinical) diagnosis of socially significant diseases, primarily heart and blood vessel diseases, and on the issues of the specialty structure and the quality of training. Clinicians and world-renowned domestic and foreign scientists will participate in the Congress.

During the last decade, the leading idea and the main slogans of the past National Congresses of radiology diagnosticians and therapists were the union of radiodiagnosis professionals of all disciplines and all clinicians to ensure the diagnosis and treatment continuity, the integration and interaction of public organizations and professional communities in continuous professional training and certification and accreditation of radiological, ultrasound and functional diagnosis experts.

Ultimately, these forums contribute to the improvement of diagnostic and medical care structure and, I hope, will be useful for each particular specialist, each patient and the population as a whole.

We hope that our jubilee Xth All-Russian National Congress of radiology diagnosticians and therapists will be as successful as all the previous ones.

We are waiting for you on May 24–26, 2016. Welcome to our Congress!

Best regards,

L.S. Kokov,
President of “Radiology 2016” Congress,
Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences
