МЕДИ Экспо — Greetings
VI All-Russia National Congress of Radiation Diagnosticians and Physicians “Radiology 2012”

President of Congress’2012

Dear Colleagues!

On May 30 – June 1 Moscow will host the Sixth All-Russian National Congress of Radiologists and Radiotherapists. This traditional event returns to its usual venue: Crocus Expo International Exhibition Center. Every year this forum introduces new topics, improves organization, and welcomes an ever-increasing number of participants.

Over the last two decades there has been a significant redistribution of importance among various methods of radiological diagnostics. Today more than half of radiological tests are done through ultrasonography, and if we count in cardiological ultrasonography testing, the share is even larger. Despite this fact, ultrasonography was scarcely represented at previous Congresses, with just one session (although in the largest room), and several unrelated panel discussions in other days. I think it is high time we did something to mend this situation. The ultrasonography topic this year will be considerably expanded. We will arrange for separate sections discussing ultrasonography in obstetrics and gynecology, cardiology and angiology, tumor diagnostics, etc.

We expect that our traditionally popular events will continue the tradition this year. The following key events will be included:

  • A joint session with the European Society for Cardiovascular Radiology: “Russia Meets ESCR”;
  • A joint session with the Japanese Society of Radiologists;
  • A joint session with the Ukrainian Association of Radiologists.

The Congress will also include the meeting of the Radiological Diagnostics Session of the Expert Council of the Russian Ministry of Health Care and Social Development. The meeting will discuss important issues in the sphere of radiological diagnostics.
I am confident that the Congress will play an important role in the development of radiological diagnostics in this country.

Chairman of the Organizing Committee

Dear Friends and Colleagues!

Our National Congress has celebrated five years! All of us together, including annually elected Congress Presidents and our dedicated Organizing Committee, have been working to change, improve and perfect our event and its program.

The Congress of Radiologists and Radiotherapists today is only a part, albeit a major part, of the Medical Diagnostics International Science and Education Forum. Functional Diagnostics, an All-Russian Convention is also taking place on the sidelines of the Forum. The Convention features a scientific conference on intervention radiology in oncology and an international symposium on management in medical diagnostics. This year we introduce the International School of Ultrasound Diagnostics in Obstetrics and Gynecology. The Forum will be accompanied by a full-scale specialized exhibition that reflects the latest achievements in equipment engineering, new products from leading international manufacturers.

You must have noticed that the number of participants has been constantly growing. If there were only slightly over 1,000 participants in the first Congress, in 2011 we had over 3,600 participants! This trend proves that the overall principles of the Congress and the Forum, obligatory elections of a new President every year, selection of important topics for discussion, participation of leading Russian and international speakers, choice of a venue convenient for participants and representatives of manufacturing companies have all proven to be successful.

There’s nothing constant and unchanging out there; sticking to the same old leads to stagnation and regress. This is why every new Congress President seeks to introduce new and interesting things to the Congress, its agenda and its eventful science program.

We are looking forward to hearing from Forum participants. We welcome your comments and suggestions on managing this important event for our professional community. The Organizing Committee will discuss all the suggestions and criticisms so that we could make our subsequent events more interesting, more important and more popular. Please send us your comments to radiolog@inbox.ru, and put “Congress” in the subject line of your message.
Medical Diagnostics International Science and Education Forum, as previously, will seek to enhance professional expertise of physicians in radiology and functional diagnostics, define and make sense of the role each method of diagnostics plays in the diagnostic algorithm, and achieve new shared meanings with clinical professionals.

I am confident that this year’s event will be a great success, and I am looking forward to your comments and suggestions.

Let me wish Radiology-2012 Congress of Radiologists and Radiotherapists great success!

Member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences
Professor, Chairman of the Organizing Committee
