SUMMARY OF THE VI ALL-RUSSIAN SCIENTIFIC EDUCATIONAL FORUM WITH INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPATION “MEDICAL DIAGNOSTICS – 2014”
The official opening took place during the first plenary meeting. Guest were greeted by the Head of the organizational committee of the Forum and the congress, member of RAS S.K. Ternovoi, acting president of the congress “Radiology”, professor G.G. Karmazanovski, pro-rector of I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, professor V.V. Fomin, chief specialist in radiology in the city of Moscow, professor A.I. Gromov and other officials.
The meeting took place in 14 meeting halls. Within a framework of three days, participants had a chance to visit more than 70 academic and research meetings, 8 classes with various curriculums, conferences on current issues in diagnostics, lectures by leading domestic and foreign scientists.
Over the course of several days, with active participation of attendees, the following events took place: meetings of the VI All-Russian conference “Functional diagnostics”, IV Symposium “Management in medical diagnostics”, the III Moscow international training course “Topical issues of ultrasound diagnostics in medicine for mother and foetus”, and the VII academic and research conference of interventional onco-cardiologists.
According to the official statistics, 3,991 specialists from 27 countries participated in the forum, among which were Abkhazia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Germany, Holland, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Canada, Kirgizia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Moldova, Russia, USA, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Estonia. Among the participants of the Forum were 508 medical and technical specialists of the medical equipment exhibition, which is traditionally held as a part of this event.
Domestic delegates represented 276 cities and 81 federal subjects of the Russian Federation.
An official honoring of distinguished scientist – specialists in radiodiagnostics - with the Y.N. Sokolov badge of honor took place during the Forum. This year the following renowned professors were honored: Y.V. Varshavski, P.M. Kotlyarov, and L.M. Rosenstrauch. They were greeted with a storm of applause. Veterans of our profession, doctors, who have worked in X-ray rooms for over 40 years, were also given medals and valuable gifts for their long service and achievements in the sphere of practical radiodiagnostics. Among the honored veterans were M.I. Garbanzo, R.D,.S. Kisileva, I.A. Dulaeva, and M.Y. Milman.
A traditional competition among young scientists, who have applied for the prize in honor of Y.N. Sokolov, was completed and summarized during the congress “Radiology”. The winners were K.A. Lesko and O.A. Malysheva. The young specialist received valuable gifts – and iPad and an iPhone. In addition, their works will be published in the Russian electronic journal of radiodiagnostics (REJR).
For the first time this year, the Plenum of Russian Association of Radiologists (RAR) in partnership with the Russian Association of Mammologists (RAM) took place during the congress of radiologists and therapeutics; it was dedicated to the most important issue of radiodiagnostics – timely diagnostic of breast diseases. A meeting of the Plenum of Moscow Association of Medical Radiologists (MAMR) also took place within the framework of the congress.
An extended meeting of the Academic commission on radiodiagnostics and therapy and the Academic methodological association on medical and pharmaceutical education of the higher learning institutions, with participation of heads of radiodiagnostics departments of all the medical schools in the country, took place on May 30.
Results of the short professional development programme, titled “CT and MRI in diagnostics of ischemic heart disease” (18 hours), that was held simultaneously with the congress “Radiology”, turned out to be interesting and useful. This cycle was organized by the department of tomography of the Russian cardiologic research and production complex and began a day before the start of the congress. Afterwards, participants attended congressional meetings for two days, where they listened to important lectures on diagnostics of cardio-vascular diseases, and only afterwards they participated in practical classes at workstations, utilized tomographic equipment, and completed the final test. This innovative educational plan had received definite approval.
During the second plenary meeting, the summary of the forum “Medical Diagnostics” was made, and in accordance with the tradition, the president of the national congress of radiodiagnostic specialists “Radiology” was elected for 2015. Attendants have unanimously selected renowned professor N.I. Rozhkova. Right after her election, Nadezhda Ivanovna read a lecture, titled “X-Rays and Radiological Technology in mammography in Russia”. It was prepared in partnership with a corresponding member of RAS, professor A.D. Kaprin.
A large exhibition of medical equipment with participation of 40 foreign and 24 domestic companies was taking place within a framework of the entire forum. Attendants had an opportunity to learn about and to discuss newest developments in the area of radiodiagnotstics and radiotherapy, as well as to participate in short “workshops”, which were conducted by leading specialists with use of working equipment.
In addition, delegates had a chance to take a look at books and magazines about radio-, functional and ultrasound diagnostics from 17 specialized publishers.
